The Delmar StreetScape Project - Friday

I went for a morning walk and I think my face froze. On a cold day the only work I saw being done, uptown, are the surveyors marking where a fence will go. I am also surprised, with the ground being torn up around the caboose, there is not a person or two with metal detectors just checking around. I think the old railroad station was located about where the caboose is now.

Here are the artistic renditions of the streetscape for downtown Delmar Delaware.

Comments:
That looks lovely. Especially with the dilapidated building showcased on the corner.

I object... I have thoroughly examined the proposed map. I have old eyes, but I don't see the Barber Shop. (One of the most consistent businesses in the district). It's the heartbeat of Delmar! Tell me, it ain't so!

What a load of crap.

Most of the businesses downtown rent or lease from some one and the owner of that building is appearing on the building outline. The streetscape project has nothing to do with who occupies the stores.

Howard,
Does this mean there has FINALLY been a resolution to the LeCates building on the corner?
Last I heard, that particular building was holding up this project because of setback issues.

Do you know anything?

No, I don't know anything

Howard, do you know if there will be benches for sitting anywhere?

It may not seem like a big deal but it is. Delmar is a very small downtown taking a few minutes to walk, and benches could extend that time of stay and make it much more comfortable.

Invite people to stay. Don't make them walk past a few stores and leave.
