Bonanza

Bonanza, the western television series, started on NBC today, September 12, 1959 and ran until January 16, 1973. I think it may be the TV series with the most restaurants names coming from it. In 1963, Dan Blocker, who played Eric "Hoss" Cartwright on Bonanza started the Bonanza Steakhouse chain. In 1968, Dan Lasater, Norm Wiese and Charles Kleptz founded Ponderosa (named for the Cartwrights's ranch) in Kokomo, Indiana. I am not sure when they started up, but there is a chain of Hoss's Steak and Sea Houses. I think the numerous Little Joe Restaurants were already in existence before the Bonanza TV series. All we are waiting for now is a chain of Hop Sing steakhouses.
