In 1976 the Delmar Bi-Cennential Commission held a homecoming and recognition day in State Street park. It was successful beyond their wildest expectations. In 1977 the Delmar Chamber of Commerce decide to replicate the event by having their first "Day In The Park." Chamber President Roy Jones along with the two Delmar Mayors; William Brittingham and Florence McGee spoke at the Day in the Park. Entertainment such as; the Deacon Comedy team, Bushin Kai Karate by Mike Triglia, Cake decorating by Elizabeth Pastula, Magic by William Mieder, exhibition of the Bi-State Twirlers, music by Bill Godfrey and the associates, the Savannah rock group, the Northwind band, and the Epworth Quartet.

The format hasn't changed much in 34 years. It is something Delmar enjoys so there is no reason to change it. Come on out for an enjoyable day.

This years band is the DAVE HENRY BAND. They'll be playing from 1-6.
There will be other live entertainment as well.

Actually, the format and the festival in general has changed quite a bit over the years.
I remember my first Day in the Park back in the early 80's when all there was were a couple of food vendors selling cotton candy and hot dogs. There were a lot of bands playing though. Back then, the festival music lasted to atleast 10pm if not later.
