A Storefront church - C. O. G. I. C.

A traditional church brings images of a tall building with a steeple and stained glass windows, but a few local churches have found their homes in commercial buildings nestled in and around downtown Delmar. At the moment a daycare is being converted to a church.

Now a church is not the physical building but the people that make it up so the building should be secondary altho there seems to be some churches in which the building stands for more than the word of Christ.

Frankly storefront churches fill an empty space that would otherwise be vacant. One example is the Church of God In Christ, Old and New Testament located on Pennsylvania Avenue in Delmar. It brings a little life to the downtown area on Sundays in which there is very little going on beyond the Pizza place and the bar.

A number of shops have occupied this store front over the years. When I moved here I think a 5 and 10 cents store occupied the space.
