CURBSIDE RECYCLING

As the town manager pointed out to me today, the curbside recycling information was in the newsletter the town put out for Summer. The information is on the town website and in the on-line newsletter.

Below is the information from the newsletter;
CURBSIDE RECYCLING DELMAR, DELAWARE
The State of Delaware Legislators have enacted legislation which mandates state
wide curbside recycling for Delaware residents. In the last week in June, the service provider will deliver to each Delmar, Delaware household one 95 gallon brown recycle container for your use. The first curbside recycle pickup will take place on
Friday, July 8, 2011 and continue to be picked up every other Friday thereafter.

WHAT WILL CURBSIDE RECYCLE ENTAIL?
1) Recyclable containers will be provided at the expense of the Hauler.
2) Recyclables will be collected bi-weekly and no separation of recyclables required.
3) Household recyclables must be separate from household trash.
4) Items to be collected:
a. PAPER (newspaper, phone books, magazines, white office paper, junk mail corrugated cardboard, paperboard/boxboard);

b. CANS (Aluminum and steel)
c. PLASTIC BOTTLES (narrow neck)
d. GLASS WILL NOT BE COLLECTED

Recycling is total BS.. It has been shown over and over that no money is saved and it all ends up in the same place. TOTAL CRAP !

Now, with that out of the way. I will state here and now, I will never sort my f***ing garbage. That's where this govt. infiltration ends with me!

The only way they'll take my trash is from my cold, dead hands.

There are some plastics that are not recyclable in Delaware. Most people don't know that.
We found out when we called the dump about a large amount of plastic we had and we were told they don't handle it.
PVC pipe is another one. It's plastic, but Delaware doesn't handle it.
We do recycle, on our own. We don't have the trash pickup service so we take it over ourselves, which is quite a bit cheaper.

Why aren't they collecting glass? The state page says it should be collected, and Blue Hen/Buzzards's info pack says they are picking it up. Weird.
