Chesapeake Bay Bridge Opens Today - 1952

July 30, 1952 - Eastbound span of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge opened. Officially named the William Preston Lane, Jr. Memorial Bridge on July 30, 1952 the bridge opened to traffic. It has a shore-to-shore length of 4.35 miles.

There is proposed toll hike to raise the toll to $5 in October 2011 and to $8 on July 1, 2013,

And watch our grocery prices take another jump. I think the thought was the crowd going to Ocean City could afford the increase but all our food comes over that bridge.
