On Delmar Heritage Day (Saturday) the Delmar library will have the following events;
From 9-3: Tommy Young will share his town sports history collection. He will be at the Library for question and answer during the morning hours.
Diana Wagner, folk musician and song historian, will perform local and regional songs about the railroad and about life on the Eastern Shore at 1:00 pm. She will have her CDs available for purchase as well. Born in Northern Wisconsin, Diana plays acoustic and classical guitar, dulcimer, a bit of banjo and diddley-bow. She also plays multiple percussion hand instruments. Folk audiences know that her show-opening trademark is to begin with an a capella mountain song or ballad. Whether singing Civil War songs, blue grass foot-tappers, Irish love ballads, or indie folk from contemporary back roads, Diana is committed to telling the personal stories and sharing the histories of the people who have come before us. Diana is also a classical guitarist with a variety of musical interests. In addition, she directs the Maryland site of Guitars in the Classroom, an innovative program that brings guitars and music integration to classrooms across the Eastern Shore of Maryland. Her website is http://www.dianawagnermusic.com/
Items from the historical collections of the Delmar Public Library and the Delmar Historical and Arts Society will also be on display.
Free refreshments will be available throughout the day
The Library programs are rain or shine.
