Delmar Middle School Winter/Christmas Band Concert - 2011

The Delmar Middle School Winter/Christmas Band Concert was tonight at 7 PM. Lead by David Smith there were performances by the 5th and 6th Grade Beginning Band, The 6th Grade Band, and the 7th and 8th grade band.

The 5th and 6th Grade Beginning band at about 50 members performed two number; "A Mozart Melody" and "Jingle Bells".

Both were performed with equal finesse so one did not stand out as being better than the other.

Parents were given an opportunity of about five minutes to take photos of the band - always a well utilized time.

This group has been practicing for about three months and they did superb for that amount of time.

The 6th grade band performed next. Altho looking small in number they made up for it with in sound doing four Christmas songs; "Wassail March", "Frosty The Snowman", "Winterscape", and "Up On The Housetop".

It would be a hard choice between "Frosty" or "Winterscape" as far as which one was best.

The 7&8th band, at a little under 50 members, played six songs.

I would have to say "Ukrainian Bell Carol" was perhaps the best performed.

As A Finale the 6th Grade Band and the 7th and 8th Grade band joined to perform a march number of "Jingle Bells" that will be performed in the Delmar Christmas parade this Saturday.

and it all wrapped up in an hour.

High School Chorus will give their Concert this coming Thursday at 7 PM.
