Robert Gattis May Get A Chance To Kill again

Robert Gattis shot and killed his girlfriend Shirley Slay in 1990. He has been in jail every since. He is finally scheduled to die Friday, January 20th. The state Board of Pardons is recommending on a 4 to 1 vote that Gov. Markell grant clemency to Gattis and commute his death sentence to life in prison without parole. What a bunch of crap. The man should have died in 1992 when he was sentenced to death. Given it is an election year and Governor Markell doesn't have much in the way of balls he will no doubt let the taxpayers continue paying for this man to live in jail and give him that slim chance that he will be able to escape one day and kill again.

There are 17 men on deathrow in Delaware. Gattis has been there the longest, Craig A. Zebroski is the second longest have been sentenced in 1997.
