Secretary of Agriculture Kee issues statement on Earth Day

Delaware Secretary of Agriculture Ed Kee issued the following statement to mark the 42nd annual celebration of Earth Day on Sunday, April 22:

“As Delawareans mark Earth Day this weekend, it provides us with an opportunity to reflect on the work our farm families have done to protect and preserve our land and water. Delaware’s agriculture community embodies the saying that farmers truly are the first environmentalists, demonstrating their passion for our land and heritage over multiple generations. To help us move toward our goal of improving water quality in the Chesapeake Bay watershed, Delaware farmers have already cut their nutrient loading into by 40 percent, a substantial reduction. Farmers’ lives and livelihoods are tied to our land more than anyone else, which is why they work every day to make sure our planet and our state remain healthy.”
