DELMAR -- A Laurel teen faces several charges after he shot at the roommate of a police informant, Delmar police say in court documents.
Jhalir Shamar Henry, 17, is charged as an adult with several charges against the female roommate, including attempted second-degree murder and first- and second-degree assault, along with charges relating to the Laurel Police Department tipster: retaliate — witness — felony offense and conspiracy: retaliate — witness — felony offense. He also faces other charges.
The warrant in this case was served on him Saturday, court records indicate. Henry is being held on $1,000,000 bond and has a bail review today.
Delmar police were dispatched to a home on the Maryland side at about 10:41 p.m. June 26 for a report of shots fired, according to charging documents. A car drove by the home and the teen got out and asked where the police tipster was, then fired two shots in the direction of the female who was sitting on the porch, charging documents state.
The police informant had earlier made a controlled drug purchase for the Laurel Police Department from “Ja,” according to the police informant’s girlfriend, charging documents state, and “Ja” is Henry’s nickname.
The shooting resulted in a hole in the vinyl siding of the home, charging documents state.
