Today Is National TV Dinner Day

Altho Swanson and Sons did not make the first frozen TV dinner they did trademark the name "TV Brand Frozen Dinner" in 1954 and had the first successful campaign to sell them.  By far the best seller was the Thanksgiving special of Turkey, gravy, dressing, peas and potatoes.  Selling for 98 cents they were a hit.

In today's obese world looking back at a 1960's frozen TV dinner you would say "Why that is only enough for a light lunch."  in 1960 it was fine for dinner.  I particularly like the way the gravy and corn would slide over on the "dessert" in the later versions of TV dinners

So celebrate National TV Dinner Day Yum Yum
