Random Monday Comments

Today is St. Patrick's Day.  Various hyphenated Americans and non Hyphenated Americans will be celebrating today.   My wife decided we would have Corned Beef and cabbage in honor of the day.  Now I like Corned Beef and eat it thru out the year, but she picked up a brisket (Grobbel's) from Sam's Club that contains 35% solution of water, salt, sodium phosphate etc.  A third of what she paid was for is what amounts to water.  It is one more thing you have to check when you buy meat anymore.  Ham is another meat that is particularly subject to this water injection and there are millions of people today who have no ideal what actual ham taste like.

“There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism.” Theodore Roosevelt (1858-1919)

For the last two Sundays we have been watching the TV show "Resurrection".  Interesting but conflicts with our favorite show "The Good Wife".  Resurrection reminds me of an old Disney movie called "Flight of the Navigator", similar story line of small child returns to family after many years.  I will say I am glad the mother of the child on "Resurrection" finally bought new clothes for the kid.

While I am typing this, the Delmar public Works are busy plowing the streets
Go Public works!!!

Speaking of the Town as you know the Delmar Maryland Mayor, Carl Anderton, jr
has chosen to run for Maryland House of Delegates as a representative of the residents of Legislative District 38b.  His website is at  and with any campaign, money frequently makes the differences so think about contributing something to him.    It would be good to have someone from Delmar in the position.

I have also conned Carl into speaking to the Lower Delmarva Genealogical society at their April meeting about his Family Tree research.  Family tree research is a hard thing to pursue when you hold a job, have a family and hold a couple of elected positions but he has managed to work it in.

An interesting blog I sometime read is "The Overeducated Housewife"
She has interested viewpoints and as I recall she is an Army Wife, so with any military family sometimes her views do not correspond to what someone in the real world (non-government) would view the same issue.  Never-the-less she writes a good blog.
