Making Delmar Proud

SALISBURY, Md. (AP) — Salisbury police say three men have been charged with the fatal shooting of a teenager in a hotel parking lot.
Seventeen-year-old Rakim Russell of Fruitland, Maryland, was shot early Sunday as he left a party at Americas Best Value Inn. He died at a local hospital.
Officers say the three suspects were involved in a fight at the party, fired into a group of people, striking Russell once.
Authorities say 18-year-old Jarrett Stokes of Delmar, Maryland, and 18-year-old Ky’Shir Connally of Delmar, Delaware, were arrested Tuesday in Wicomico County in Maryland. Twenty-year-old Larry Ennis of Salisbury, Maryland, was arrested Wednesday in Dover, Delaware.
All three have been charged with first- and second-degree murder in Russell’s slaying.

A member of the 2015 Delaware All-State Basketball team is one of three men facing charges in connection with a weekend shooting death on the Eastern Shore of Maryland.

Larry Ennis, 20, of Salisbury, was taken into custody Wednesday afternoon in Dover for his alleged connection with the death of a Fruitland teenager in Ennis' town of residence.

Police said 17-year-old Rakim Russell was shot while in the parking lot of America's Best Value Inn on North Salisbury Boulevard early Sunday as he left a party.

Jarrett Stokes and Ky'Shir Connally, both 18 and both of Delmar, were arrested Tuesday evening at separate locations in the Delmar area.

Ennis just completed his senior basketball season at Delmar, where he was named to the DSBA's All-State Honorable Mention Team, as one of the state's leading scorers.

A police investigation indicated that the suspects were involved in an earlier altercation at the party, returned, and fired multiple gunshots into a group of people in the parking lot.

Salisbury Police released these details about the arrests late Wednesday:

Three men are in custody and charged with the murder of a Wicomico County teenager.

Jarrett Vaughn Stokes and KyâShir Tariq Connally, both 18 and from Delmar, and Larry Allen Lamar Ennis, 20 of Salisbury, were taken into custody without incident by members of the US Marshals Capitol Area Region Fugitive Task Force. Stokes and Connally were arrested yesterday evening in separate locations near Delmar and taken to the Wicomico County Detention Center where they are being held without bond. Ennis was arrested by members of the fugitive task force at approximately 4pm today in Dover, DE. Ennis waived extradition and will be transported back to Wicomico County. All three men are charged with First Degree Murder and related counts for the August 2nd shooting death of 17 year old Rakim Russell of Fruitland.

Rakim Russell was shot while in the parking lot of the Americas Best Value Inn located at 2625 N. Salisbury Blvd. as he left a party just after midnight on Sunday. Investigation has determined that the suspects, who were involved in an earlier altercation at the party, returned to the location and fired multiple gunshots into a group of people congregating in the parking lot. Russell was shot one time and died a short time later at Peninsula Regional Medical Center.

Investigators are continuing to seek witnesses to the incident. Police are urging parents whose children attended the party at the America Best Value Inn on Saturday night to speak to their children about the incident and to contact police with any information. Crime Solvers is offering a reward of up to

$2,000 for information leading to an arrest.
