Friday The 13th Comments

This week in the Sussex Guide 17 more people applied for a concealed gun permit.

Yes tomorrow from 10 to 5 the Downtown Delmar Artisan's Street fair will be going

on.

Walking by the High School Middle School last week watching parents drop off their children in the morning.  I do not miss doing this at all.

TGIF

As usual the United States can not keep it nose out of the affairs of other countries.  The Metroflight Airbus that went down in Egypt now has the FBI and The National Transportation Safety Board begging Egypt to let them come and help investigate.  Not our problem, we don't need to be involved, for a change stop spending money on this crap, it is Egypt problem not ours.

Two items from the past
In 1986 April was in the Maryland Miss Teen Pageant.

and in 1986 Don Darby showed off his ventriloquism skill in the State Register.  The article mentioned what a fan of Edgar Bergen and Charlie McCarthy he is.  The two, Edgar Bergen and Charlie McCarthy, came to nationwide fame on the radio and you have to wonder why people would have been interested in a ventriloquism act on the radio.  Don was a police dispatcher in Delmar at the time, before that he had 22 years as a teacher and Vice Principal in Wicomico County.  He is best known for his train collection.

and looking thru my file on Don Darby here is a yearbook photo from 1948 from the Nanticoke High School.

This coming Sunday the new house across the street from me (101 E. Jewell St) will be having an open house from 2 to 4 pm.

There seems to be a big surge in gold buying as it is up about 200% over last year at this time.  I think it is all part of the currency war which is always ongoing between the US and China.  The presidential debates have only slightly touched on these currency wars.  Usually you buy gold when you expect your currency value to collapse.

One of the key items in the upcoming Presidential election will be Illegal immigration.  Naturally I favor deporting all 11 million of them.  Illegal means you broke the law and I am sick of governments (national, state local) making laws then ignoring them.  The democrats, and some republicans  seem to want to give citizenship to the 11 million lawbreakers.  This must be an insult to the people who came here legally and went thru the paperwork and waiting periods to come here.  I tend to relate it to the Vietnam era when some men went in the service and others took off to Canada to avoid going in the service. In 1974 President Ford gave amnesty to all who went to Canada and all who deserted the military.  It cheapened  the death of those who died in Vietnam and made those that lived thru it look like fools.

I am convinced there is not a search term you can put in google or bing that will not bring up pornography, which at times can be embarrassing.

Sunday Morning

Sunday morning coffee

I dislike the "new" time,  It seems like by the time I am up and straighten away it is the afternoon.

Even my Christmas cactus is rushing Christmas by blooming now.

Our daughter's cat developed an open wound on his foot.  She was not satisfied with the diagnosis the vets around Elliott city came up with so she bought the cat back here to Pet Medical and they gave her more encouragement on the sore.  It has too be cleaned and re-bandaged every other day for a couple weeks but it will get better.  An interesting thing they did in cleaning it is to apply sugar to the wound.  In looking it up on the internet it says; When sugar is packed in a wound, it creates a highly concentrated medium where bacteria cannot survive. Sugar also reduces swelling, encourages the removal of dead tissue, and promotes the formation of connective tissue and new blood vessels. The net result of using sugar on wounds is rapid healing with minimal scarring.
Interesting.

It is a great thing that Perdue Agribusiness is going to build in the town limits of Delmar.  Maybe the tax rate will come down for all of us.
