Some Saturday Comments

Be Happy

Christmas season is about to be upon us.  With Muslim terrorist about it is interesting that if you were to see some one dressed like the below women in a mall you might be uncomfortable.
but yet you would think nothing of someone dressed like this
would there be any better way to set off a bomb in America at Christmas then this person with 95% of his body hidden and carrying a sack full of goodies?

My wife has recently retired so she is home all day.  Prior to that event the cats and I had a pretty good routine for the day that has now been shot.  I have heard rumor that the cats are scraping up all the odd change under the sofa cushions and under the chairs to take a contract out on her.  There are moments when I can see the merit in their plan.

of interest in a trivia nature; Air Force Aircraft that crashed before November 19, 1961 are considered formally abandoned,  but aircraft that crashed after that remain the property of the Air Force.  Just a bit of information in case you come across an old Air Force plane in the woods.

The recent Delmar Maryland election just gets getting worst.  I understand from Delmarva Now that the write in person Wayne Knapp has withdrawn.

The apparent winner of a write-in campaign in Delmar has withdrawn after questions were raised about his residency.
Wayne A. Knapp received 22 write-in votes in Tuesday’s town election and was the apparent winner of a seat for which no one had filed, but until this week, Knapp also was a town commissioner in Pittsville.
Knapp said he resigned from his position in Pittsville shortly before the Delmar election and then withdrew his name in Delmar because of controversy over which town is actually his home.
“It really just turned into a circus,” he said. “Neither town needs this drama.”

Bobby Jindal, who I had liked as a candidate for President has withdrawn from the race.  He gave a couple of reasons but the obvious one is he did not attract the attention and support he had hoped for.  It would seem there are times when someone stand the best shot at winning or at least gathering enough support to attract attention.  In Jindal case and Chris Christie it was four years ago.  And speaking of four years ago Sarah Palin daughter Bristol who was pregnant during that election is pregnant and unmarried again this election. Apparently election fever must increase her fertility.  One more child for my tax money to go to support.

This week in the Sussex Guide were 26 legal notices for people filing for a concealed weapon permit.

I think it is a strange thing what has gone on at Washington college in Chestertown.  The college closed last Monday when Jacob Marbeger, a student,  went home to Pennsylvania and got his gun. Marbeger made no threats, just went home got his gun and disappeared.  The college locked up and brought in law enforcement teams etc.  The college cancelled classes and had the students stay in the Dorms, my neighbor who has a grandchild at Washington said the cafeteria did bring to the dorms sandwiches for them to eat.  By Wednesday the grandson was back in Delmar.  Now as a parent of someone who has paid for two daughters to go to college my question is will there be any reimbursement for tuition, meal plans, housing etc that those 1400 students paid for.  they are now off from college until after thanksgiving.  I know the University of Delaware would have given you a tough shit answer we aren't making any adjustment to what you paid.

I see that at Dollar tree, where you expect everything to be made in China, they are selling American greeting cards singles that are made in America.

Thanksgiving cooking is about to begin.  A disappointment this year is there will be no Mash's Ham.  My wife usually cooks a turkey and a ham at thanksgiving and she preferred a Mash's ham as it was lower in salt.  Mash was sold to Smithfield and I gather Smithfield closed the operation down. Mash's Ham was owned by Nathan Mash.  Their advertisement went like this;
What's in a name?" asked radio and television advertisements. "Mash's unscrambled spells HAMS. And what do we do with the other S? That stands for salt -- we throw that S away."
and from hams to feet
notice that wide space between the big toe and the rest of the toes actually it is called Sandal Gap.  In some cases it is a soft sign of downs syndrome aut in most cases it is just an oddity that allows people with it to do things people without it can't do.
The Lower Delmarva Genealogical society has their November meeting last Wednesday at the Laurel library where Nancy Lynch spoke on preserving war letters.  It was an interesting talk and Nancy's preservation technique is to donate them to the state archives.  This way you can still access the letters and the archives preserves them for the public to see.  Those letters can be accessed in digital form here;
Gregg McCullough from the Laurel library gave a presentation on available genealogical resources at the Laurel library.
One of the subjects briefly touched on was the death of Martin Luther King in 1968 and the ensuring riots that occurred across the nation. Wilmington, Delaware has the honor of being the longest occupied city in the United States (9 months) by military personnel since the civil war.  The National Guard was everywhere.  Lloyd Whitehead, who is one of our members, was saying he was in the Maryland National Guard at that time and he spent three weeks in Baltimore guarding street corners.  I can remember working in Washington DC about 1974 and looking at the burnt out buildings that seem to everywhere from those riots.

I was commenting to a young person that electric directional signals in the 1950's were only on automobiles and most pickup trucks did not have them.  You used hand signals or you bought an automatic direction signal kit and strapped it on the steering column of the pickup truck and ran your own wiring. It was a time when the Maryland license test required you to use handsignals on the driving portion of the test.  I tried to explain to him what a handsignal was and how regardless of the weather shining, sleet, buckets of rain, wind, etc you still cranked down (had to explain that one also)  the driver's window and made that signal. Needless to say he just had that blank look on his face like he was looking at a dinosaur.

Rite Of Exorcism Against Democrats

I command you, unclean spirit, whoever you are, along with all your minions now attacking this servant of God, by the mysteries of the incarnation, passion, resurrection, and ascension of our Lord Jesus Christ, by the descent of the Holy Spirit, by the coming of our Lord for judgment, that you tell me by some sign your name, and the day and hour of your departure. I command you, moreover, to obey me to the letter, I who am a minister of God despite my unworthiness; nor shall you be emboldened to harm in any way this creature of God, or the bystanders, or any of their possessions.
I cast you out, unclean spirit, along with every Satanic power of the enemy, every spectre from hell, and all your fell companions; in the name of our Lord Jesus +Christ. Begone and stay far from this creature of God.+ For it is He who commands you, He who flung you headlong from the heights of heaven into the depths of hell. It is He who commands you, He who once stilled the sea and the wind and the storm. Hearken, therefore, and tremble in fear, Satan, you enemy of the faith, you foe of the human race, you begetter of death, you robber of life, you corrupter of justice, you root of all evil and vice; seducer of men, betrayer of the nations, instigator of envy, font of avarice, fomentor of discord, author of pain and sorrow. Why, then, do you stand and resist, knowing as you must that Christ the Lord brings your plans to nothing? Fear Him, who in Isaac was offered in sacrifice, in Joseph sold into bondage, slain as the paschal lamb, crucified as man, yet triumphed over the powers of hell. (The three signs of the cross which follow are traced on the brow of the possessed person). Begone, then, in the name of the Father, + and of the Son, + and of the Holy + Spirit. Give place to the Holy Spirit by this sign of the holy + cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with the Father and the Holy Spirit, God, forever and ever.

Testing The Odds

The Pathetic Delmar Maryland Election

The apathy of Delmar voters continue as demonstrated in the Delmar Maryland election yesterday.  First, there was not enough interest to fill all the open slots of elected positions, Second only 41 people out of 1,730 register voters bothered to vote, a little over 2% of voters or put another way each person that voted, voted for 42 people.  I could go on and on  about this but there just seem to no point in it.

The results; Karen Wells was returned as Mayor.  Lloyd Unsell was returned as a commissioner, he is from Woodcreek.  No one filed for the other commissioner position so write-ins were accepted.  Wayne Knapp from Woodcreek received 22 write-ins and Chris Morgan received 14 write-ins.  Once it is proven Wayne Knapp is qualified and he accepts, he will be a Delmar commissioner in the December 14th swear-in.

Again I will say if you have a solid block of 50 voters you can control the outcome of any election in Delmar Maryland or Delaware and in turn you can control either of the two towns.  This would be an interesting objective for the Muslims or any religious group.

Preserving War Letters: Touchstones of Time

Letters from any war constitute primary source material, first-hand accounts from the battlefield, and provide a unique window on that conflict. Preserving this priceless correspondence as social history for future generations is critical. Learn how—and how not—to safeguard letters from our Delaware troops at war in this lively, interactive program by award-winning journalist Nancy E. Lynch who received nearly 1,000 letters from the frontlines of the Vietnam War for her popular newspaper column.

This event is open to the public and is free.

Tuesday Election In Maryland

Remember in Delmar Maryland there is an election Tuesday.  Vote early Vote often.

So you get out of bed for a moment to go to the bathroom and on your return.

Hillary Clinton

Hillary Clinton discusses the refugee crisis in Europe with John Dickerson on CBS’s Face the Nation on Sunday. The Democrat presidential hopeful says that while the Obama administration has made a ‘good start’ by pledging to accept 10,000 refugees, the US should do more to ‘lead the world’ on this issue by taking 65,000.

Is this woman serious?
